Neave.com Flash Earth

"Recently, the site received a surge in traffic from a high-profile Japanese blog and the number of visitors doubled for one day. If the site were hosted on a dedicated server, it's very likely the site would have been largely inaccessible, if not very slow to respond. With the Grid, there's no perceivable difference, it just powers on through! It's three thumbs up from me!"

Description:
Paul Neave has turned his inspired, flash driven experiments into popular online tools and hangouts. Paul is the creator and keeper of Neave.com, a collection of flash based games, video projects and the famed Flashearth.com. In Paul’s professional life, he works with Magnetic North working on projects such as this recent work for the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/jam/

Paul Neave is based in Manchester, UK and is inspired by the offline, practical world which is a probable departure from the common impression many have regarding new media developers. Paul prefers to work with Adobe’s Flash and has a knack for exploiting the strength’s in Flash, especially the powerful video components and site compatibility which is obvious in his work.

Paul’s Flash Earth receives roughly 1,500,000 visitors monthly running on the (mt) Media Temple (gs) Grid Server. Thanks to small file size and the Grid’s sustainable load threshold, Flash Earth cruises through traffic spikes without issue. The Grid has sustained the site through Diggs and potential traffic and load red flags.

Paul will continue to develop experiments, tools and toys at Neave.com using the newest Flash and Actionscript releases and hosting them on the newest (mt) Media Temple platforms. We especially look forward to Paul’s new apps using creative, community based API’s including Digg, Flickr.
